Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

After four years, Skidmore becomes more than just a school—it's a community, a home, a place of growth and development. Skidmore is a place where you'll make mistakes and where you'll learn from those mistakes and make better decisions than you could ever imagine. Skidmore is your friends, your relationships, your breakups. Skidmore is your family. Skidmore is your accomplishments and your pride.

Would students choose Skidmore again if given the chance? Certainly. Students look back at who they were before they got to Skidmore, and discover they learned many new things, from both textbooks and students and faculty. Despite the snowy winters, the weather in Saratoga Springs is conducive for hitting the books. You'll produce work of high quality that you could never imagine doing when you first arrived to campus as a first-year student. Plus, students form close relationships, often going to their adviser's house for holidays and dinners. The Saratoga Springs area is also conducive for students pulling together and making the most out of their Skidmore experience, as there's plenty to do and explore.

Not Looking to Stay for 4 Years

It was far too similar to my high school experience. It runs mostly identical to a private high school. I don't want to spend 4 years hear and if I do I will try to study abroad which is one of the best things this school has to offer, besides amazing food.

Overall, Pretty Positive

Skidmore has allowed me to expand myself personally and intellectually. I have met some amazing people from all walks of life and have found a community in which I feel comfortable. The party scene is pretty prevalent, but not obligatory. Also, as a student on financial aid it's been hard balancing school and work, especially since the majority of students are white and upper-middle class.

Pretty Great

Even though the kids at Skidmore are incredibly nice, it takes a bit to find your niche of friends. It's an extremely chill school and that means that there's usual not a lot going on. Most kids just hang out with each other and go out to party on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Overall I have a fun time hanging out with the people here. Classes are a bit harder than I expected them to be but it's nice to be challenged.
