Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The public CDTA (Capital District Transportation Authority) bus stops at Skidmore every half hour (every hour on Sundays) every day of the week. The bus is free for Skidmore students when they swipe their ID card. The bus runs late into the night to ensure safe transportation to and from the bars on the weekends. When the bus is not running, students can take free cabs back to campus from downtown. All of these free options are extremely helpful in maintaining a safe environment between Saratoga and Skidmore. Students can also connect to another CDTA bus downtown to ride to the mall area.

In terms of long-distance travel, Amtrak and Greyhound stop at the Saratoga train station, making Saratoga easily accessible. The train station is about seven minutes from campus. When the weather is nice, it is a short 10-minute walk to downtown Saratoga or a lovely bike ride, too.

Bus System

The Saratoga Springs 473 bus runs every half hour every day but Sunday. The bus is free for Skidmore students and is usually on time. The 50 bus runs every hour, which is sometimes irritating. However, because of the bus system, it is not necessary to have a car.

Always Available on Late Nights

Skidmore provides free bus rides to and from downtown both during the day up until 4AM. After that, they'll cover your taxi ride home from a late night at the bars. They definitely want to make sure everyone can get home safely.

Free Buses!

I don't have a car, so the bus is a lifesaver. It goes to downtown Saratoga from the student center every half hour (hourly on weekends) and is free for students.
