Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Let’s face it, campus dining at any university is not first-class gourmet, nor is it expected to be. Slippery Rock is no different—you can find the typical cafeteria à la carte buffet at Weisenfluh and Boozel dining halls, and fast food options at Rocky’s Grille. The No. 1 place to eat on campus is Cyberfresh, a section of Rocky’s Grille, which serves highly recommended wraps and fresh soups. For students who don’t have the time to sit down and eat, Rocky’s Grille offers takeout so students can eat on the go. Rocky’s is also open later than the dining halls and doesn’t close between meal periods, so no matter what your schedule, you’ll always be able to get something to eat.

At the Weisenfluh C-Store, an on-campus convenience store, students can grab bagged lunches to go, as well as quick snacks. However, do not be surprised if the sandwiches, cookie, or apple in your bagged lunch are not completely fresh. Boozel Dining Hall was renovated and re-opened for the spring 2009 semester. The improved dining hall offers more seating, a modern, sleek atmosphere, and a better food selection. One of the major concerns that students have with their meal plans is the cost. Meal plans are expensive anywhere, but if students here do not use a meal block, that meal vanishes and can't be used at a later time. The University, after hearing many complaints from students, explains that adjustments are made in pricing to make room for missed meals, but SRU students just aren’t buying it.

Pretty Bad...

They are trying to have more diversity in food, but it's not very successful, in my opinion. Meal plans aren't exactly cheap for the bad quality of food here either. Plus the only place you can use your meal plan at is Boozel.

Dining Halls

On campus there are a lot of different options to chose from to use your meal plan/flex. One option I would change though is to allow meal swipes at more locations. Meal swipes can only be used at the one dining hall and a small trailer. Need better options.
