Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Dance studios, a coffeeshop, and a lounge by the fireplace—these are just some perks to campus housing at SRU. A multi-million dollar makeover replaced the old, cement cell blocks that were the traditional dorms that SRU students knew and loathed. Though most students agree that living in the old dorms was manageable, the new suite-style residences are welcomed. Special interest floors and groups, like the Honors Floor, were transferred over to the new buildings. Students have the option of living and interacting with students of common interests, which makes meeting friends that much easier. Cost is a factor—the price of on-campus living is skyrocketing due to this major upgrade in quality—sending some campus residents scrambling to find housing elsewhere.

While some students are enjoying the new luxury, others are shaking their fists at the change. Not to worry, if you long to experience the more traditional, classic dorm experience, North and Rhoads halls have been spared by the wrecking ball. North Hall, previously known as “the convent,” was the all-girl dorm on campus, but is now coed. It is beautiful architecturally, with a courtyard and overall aesthetic appeal. Rhoades is in the same building as the student health center and across the street from Weisenfluh dining hall, making it a convenient location.

Dorms

Dorms are nice, but way to expensive and way to far away from campus.
