Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Slippery Rock is a quaint, rural town that thrives off the University’s presence. The town is a harmonious patchwork of college students and townies. In town, where Sheetz is usually the biggest attraction, there is little to do in the way of entertainment. If students want to catch a movie or do some serious shopping, they must drive to the adjacent towns of Grove City and Butler. However, campus offers many programs during the week, including art exhibits, plays, movies, and other late-night events.

When night falls, the parties get started, and the bars become animated with SRU’s finest. Though many complain that the town is small, quiet, and boring, others argue that with so many students in one place, there is always something going on. You can check out the University Calendar online to see a list of all the events planned for the upcoming weeks.

Not Too Far from Shopping Areas

Slippery Rock is sort of a smaller town, but it is only about 45 minutes away from the city of Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh has tons to offer, and since it isn't too far you can go there often. Also, about 15 minutes away from Campus is an Outlet Mall, hello holiday shopping!

Not Much to Do

There are not many things to do around Slippery Rock. The grove city outlets are close and do provide for good shopping. Not many choices or places to eat or hang out.

The Right Choice

Slippery Rock Pa is a great place to be located. Besides the rain there are so many things that make it such an awesome environment. Main street is filled with things to do, places, to shop, and dining facilities to meet your needs. The campus is so close to the town that only a few minutes walking and your right in the middle of everything. The students are friendly, and everyone knows everyone. My favorite part of being here is the "Hello" Tradition, where everyone you meet you say hello to. The town, community, and university are an amazing mix. You couldn't ask for a better opportunity.
