Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The Happy Bus is a green-and-white shuttle that sticks to a convenient schedule and brings joy to one and all. It not only loops around campus, but also makes stops at most off-campus housing complexes and, more importantly, Giant Eagle. It’s a great service to utilize in the wicked winter weather and definitely saves students from a lot of walking. The Happy Bus also offers certain field trips throughout the year to hot locations like the Waterfront in Pittsburgh, the Grove City Prime Outlets, and the Clearview Mall in Butler.

Beginning on “Thirsty Thursday” and continuing all weekend long, the Happy Bus runs a late-night service to ensure the safety of party-goers and to prevent drunk driving. Though the Happy Bus is used widely in the mornings by shuttling students to classes, many students do not use the service on weekends. The reason is that students do not yet realize that the free service is not designed specifically to nab drunken students. Students are never carded and no questions are asked, which makes for a great system of safety that should be widely utilized.

Happy Bus is wonderful

The Happy Bus is operated completely by students through the Student Government Association and it's a great use of student fees. Some students take it for granted and fail to realize that this isn't a normal service at all schools! The bus runs all the time: morning, afternoon, evening Mon-Fri, and late-night Thurs-Sat. Sorry to spoil the idyllic previous review, but the term Happy Bus was dubbed when it first originated as a solely late-night shuttle. Thus, students were drunk and happy. Either way, the name has stuck. Students can also use the Next Bus service to call ahead and find out when the next bus is arriving at their stop. Nothing like calling, hearing "two minutes" and running out the door to catch it!

Slippery Rock Is Not a Huge Town

Slippery Rock is really not a huge town because the college makes the town. There is a bus that runs on campus on a schedule and there is one on campus and off campus. The on campus one runs about every 20 minutes and is absolutely free, and so is the off campus one. It is an inconvenience on the weekends because the bus comes every 45 minutes because there is on two of them and there are about 7 stops.

Happy Bus All the Way!!!

We have two busses that run daily during the week. These are called the happy bus due to the drivers that we used to have were always really happy to see the students and welcomed everyone with smiling faces. There is an on-campus bus that runs every 20 minutes and goes to various places on campus, which is great for rainy or cold days. Then there is an off campus bus that runs every 40 minutes to a few places on campus as well as the local Giant Eagle and some apartment complexes that are typically all Slippery Rock students.
