Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The Happy Bus is a green-and-white shuttle that sticks to a convenient schedule and brings joy to one and all. It not only loops around campus, but also makes stops at most off-campus housing complexes and, more importantly, Giant Eagle. It’s a great service to utilize in the wicked winter weather and definitely saves students from a lot of walking. The Happy Bus also offers certain field trips throughout the year to hot locations like the Waterfront in Pittsburgh, the Grove City Prime Outlets, and the Clearview Mall in Butler.

Beginning on “Thirsty Thursday” and continuing all weekend long, the Happy Bus runs a late-night service to ensure the safety of party-goers and to prevent drunk driving. Though the Happy Bus is used widely in the mornings by shuttling students to classes, many students do not use the service on weekends. The reason is that students do not yet realize that the free service is not designed specifically to nab drunken students. Students are never carded and no questions are asked, which makes for a great system of safety that should be widely utilized.

The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round

At SRU you don't need to have a car to go places, we have a happy bus. This bus provides transportation both on campus and off campus. It runs every 20 minutes and is extremely convenient; it will take you to off campus housing, the outlets, grocery store, and sometimes even down to Pittsburg.

Buses and Parking

Buses go around campus but they are often late or difficult to find.

Parking is $25 for a year pass. Parking spots are very hard to find and ticketing is common. There are never open spaces and people often argue over spots. You must arrive atleast an hour early before class to maybe find a spot.

Campus Transportation

Public transportation at Slippery Rock is solid, but could be better. There are four bus routes that go on and off campus, but they generally only go as far as the local grocery store a mile away. The "Happy Bus" is big for getting students to and from campus and apartments, especially for night life.
