Although about 95 percent of South Texas College students are Hispanic, there is still a good level of diversity. Regardless of the differences between cultures and races, the students at STC are very easy to get along with. You can always find groups of students sitting around campus helping each other or chatting with one another.
While many students attend college immediately after high school, a large number of STC students return as they desire a career change or feel like learning something new. A vast majority of the students have families at home and full-time jobs. Therefore, the student body ranges from high school students taking dual enrollment courses to students who have retired from an established career. Although there are age differences, it does not hinder the communication between students, and they often gather together to share notes or accompany one another for lunch. Most students are extremely sociable, which makes it very easy to fit in.
