I live at home still.

There are many options, like apartments and rental homes. The rental house I lived in for a year was a disgrace. The landlord was the least helpful a person could possibly be. I have been to the apartments right off of campus, and although they are not the nicest apartments, they are still livable but the cost is a little high.

There are many options for off- campus housing at Southeast Missouri State. Most are apartments and some are actual houses. The apartments and houses have plenty of open parking spaces. Also, cost is cheap because off-campus housing is usually shared by multiple students. On one side of town, the neighborhoods are safe. However, on the other side, not so much. There were several break-ins and roberies last year so always locking the doors is very recommended.
Almost all off-campus housing is no more tan a mile from the school and there are free shuttles that can take you to and from school.

If you plan on having roommates, it's pretty easy to find off campus housing but there isn't a regulation on standards so a lot of the places are dumps. If it's not, it can range from average to outrageously overpriced. And if you want a washer/dryer in your apartment, plan to pay for it. There are also several landlords that will not rent to college students, which makes things a little more challenging.

The availability is always better at the end of semesters, costs vary but are relatively decent, I have heard that as long as you are respectful the landlords are helpful. Parking is difficult to find and most of it is found along the streets. The school helps kids find off campus living if oyu utilize those resources.
