Health & Safety:
My school is not in the best neighborhood, but our security makes everyone feel safe anyways. The campus clinic is also lovely and very accessable.

We are about to start our first semester and so far everyone has been great to work with. The only real issue so far has been that they have little to no experience or advice when dealing with Vet benefits.

The weather is great! Typical Texas weather, one day hot, next day cold. It does not rain too much, which is nice if you walk a lot. The humidity is less than what I am used to, so that is a blessing! Even when the temp. is hot, its not too bad because the humidity is low. It does snow in the winter, but more in January during the break.

The cafeteria offers a variety of meals for breakfast and lunch. They have a salad bar, Philly cheeesteak sandwiches, fried food, burgers, grilled chicken, and more. The food is good and very affordable. The cafe serves lunch and dinner items, as well as coffee and ice cream. All items are reasonably priced. There are not meal plans available.

The Seminary offers a few scholarships of their own, which is nice. Finding outside scholarships, however, was a little more challenging. They do list a variety of scholarships on the website and they are organized, however finding one to fit my criteria was difficult. When I went into the financial aid office, they just directed me to the website. I feel like I am wasting a lot of time researching and trying to figure out if it is worth it to apply for certain scholarships.

The Seminary is located in a not go great part of town. The immediate area is not so nice. The houses are a little run down. However, there are two freeways near by. Three exits down off I-20 is a much nicer area of town and there is a mall and plenty of stores, restaurants, and shopping available. All of the big chain companies are only about ten minutes away. The TCU area is nice and touristy as well. There are also too many churches to choose from.

There is more than enough parking. Parking isn't an issue regardless of your class schedule.

SWBTS does not have athletics in the NCAA. The only thing that comes close are the intramurals, which include: basketball, volleyball, football, and sometimes soccer or ultimate frisbee.

Where to begin? The space is limited even for a dorm room. Everything is outdated there are not many amenities (common areas, game rooms, etc.). New dorms are being built, though, and may prove to be better.

The off campus housing is still within spitting distance of campus (like across the street). They haven't been updated in years, hence the bad grade. However, they are renovating/ remodeling all campus housing (on and off) and I'm sure with the updates they will be much more accommodating.

The school has campus housing close by, but, if you live off campus there is no help. The city has buses that run near it, but the school itself does not.

Process Is Simple – The process is simple you have a balance due and they will break it down into several payments. However the cost is still expensive.

Intensive Process – The process for approval of SW Baptist Theological entailed an extensive review before the board before acceptance into the program. I had to send in three references, approval by my church board and submit my transcript from previous colleges. My wife had to submit a questionnaire.

Top Notch Theological Training – Southwestern possesses professors that are well trained to provide adequate training and applicable real life material to the students. They are willing to meet and mentor the students and provide outside of school help. They are down to earth and easy to deal with.

Not a College Town – The local atmosphere is not that of a college town and it is hard to find people to hang out with and stuff to do. Houston has a big city atmosphere but it is in contrast to a college town. You have to look for stuff to do instead of it being at your fingertips.

Parking always causes problems where ever you go. There is the possibility that you will have to pay for the parking or not be able to find a parking spot. At southwestern there is no such problem. Since not many people go to southwestern the parking is excellent and there are plenty of parking spots.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
