Monument Café is really yummy, the food is homemade, and all the ingredients are fresh. Chipotle is just down the road, and if you’ve never tried it, you need to try it! Other than that, trips down to Austin and Round Rock are merited.

I’ve never wished to be anywhere else. SU is a great school, and well worth the money and effort it takes to go here.

This is a school with awesome faculty and great resources. It’s too bad nobody knows that. Since no one seems to realize that Southwestern offers a lot of great things, mostly average students in Texas apply here as a backup to other more well-known schools. Then, when they can’t get in to those other schools, or can’t afford them, they come here a bit downtrodden and disappointed and wishing they were somewhere else. This contributes to a general sense of apathy on campus. It also contributes to a fairly homogenous campus of white, upper-middle-class Texans.

I love it here and couldn’t imagine being this happy anyplace else. The course load is challenging, but your professors are willing to work with you. You know half the campus, so you are constantly greeting people as you walk to class. We actually have trees and grass, and the students here are nice and fun. Some complain that it is boring, but there is always something to do for those who are willing to go out and look for it.

The sororities on campus make...

The sororities on campus make checking out girls more interesting. The Zetas and Tri Delts are the two ‘stereotypical’ sororities on campus. The Zetas are the most exclusive, and sometimes they’re really snooty, like you should feel special because you’re spending time with them. The Tri Delts are bit more down and dirty—the type of girls who really like freak dancing and beer on the weekends, but wear pearls during the week. The ADPi’s are the ‘nice girls.’ They are generally friendly and tend to party just as much as the Zetas and Tri Delts. Lots of ADPis are involved in activities on campus like choir, theater, and sports. I think the ADPis are probably my favorite sorority. The AXiDs are the smallest chapter, and even though the girls are nice, they still suffer the label as the ‘weird girl’ sorority.

This year at Sing!, Latinos Unidos, Asia Club, and Indian Students Association did a skit together (which was hilarious and should have won, by the way). They poked fun at the fact that pretty much everyone at SU is white. It’s true! Even some of the people in LU, Asia Club, and ISA are white!

Central Texas weather is crazy - you rarely know if it's going to be cold, hot, or rainy. Rain boots are a necessity because the campus floods.

Virtually No Nightlife, Unless You Go to Austin

Southwestern has the average amount of frat parties for a college, but if you're looking for clubs and other forms of nightlife, look elsewhere (Austin, Pflugerville, etc.).

Several Great Restaurants, but Few Open Late

There are several delicious places to eat around Georgetown, but unfortunately few of them are open past midnight (when us college students have those late-night cravings).

my school location is downtown dayton it is very horrible because if we had transportation they would have to drop us off in front of the building. It is very dangerous, There are on comming traffic at all times and it get really busy during the morning and daytime. If they had another entrance into the school were we would not have to pay to pull in or worry about cars hitting us, or knocking are car doors off it would be a very wonderful place to have school.

their isn't much academics required here at my school. i choose the medical assit field because it was a interesting choice to me. I love to learn new things and being here at South Western college would help me alot. the teachers here are nice and helppful i haven't had any issues here so far. I do enjoy being here and if they could expand their school like a regular campus it would be wonderfull to.

Greek life is pretty important here, and very problematic, too. The frat houses here are notorious for being dangerous, although no one officially talks about it. If the kinds of friends you want are the kinds that go Greek, then yes, not being Greek can be a problem, but if you don’t want those kinds of friends, then you will be fine.

I’m not a part of a sorority, though I’m friends with a lot of people that are. I think frat parties seem to be the only place to go sometimes, but there are other options (especially events offered by UPC), and independents seem to find ways of entertaining themselves.

I love Southwestern; I don’t think I could have picked out a better school to fit my personality. I am from a small town, so I enjoy the small-town vibe that Southwestern and Georgetown give off. The people here are very enjoyable to be around, and they’re always willing to help you out if you have any problems adjusting to college life. I have found some of my best friends here, while also getting an incredible education!

I don’t wish I was somewhere else at all. I wanted to come here, and I still want to be here (well, here and London, where I’ll be doing my second study abroad next fall). I love Southwestern, and I wish more people who were here did, too. It has a top-notch education and a lot of charming opportunities to offer. In short, it’s a damn good little school in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Make sure if you come here, you know that it’s a small, private, liberal arts school in a suburban setting. Cogitate on those words. Learn to love them.

I made a lot of compromises in...

I made a lot of compromises in coming here since the student body is so homogenous and apathetic about being here, and also since I don’t particularly like the rigid curriculum structure, and since I don’t particularly like the concept of a traditional university, period. But it was an affordable liberal arts college with a good fine arts program, and that made all the difference for me. I’m learning a lot here, and since that’s what an education is all about, then I’m satisfied. Also, I can tell that SU is going to be a springboard to lots of other opportunities in my life, so even if it’s not everything that I want it to be right now, it will still help me get to where I want to go. Is SU all my college dreams come true? Hardly. Am I still happy? Yes. Am I still learning? Yes. Will I still lead a meaningful and successful life? Of course. And SU will play a large part in that.

I really love Southwestern University. If you are looking for a challenging academic and intellectual environment, this is the place for you. Everyone discusses everything, and you really get a chance to learn about new things and have new experiences. I would suggest this school to anyone who doesn’t mind working and has a passion for learning.

If smart and talented students...

If smart and talented students from the whole country would pay attention to how cool SU is, and start applying and coming here so that we could get a more energized, diverse population at Southwestern, then that would be awesome. If the people who are here already would realize that they’re at a place where their dreams really can come true, and that they don’t need to whine and complain and moan about transferring in order to achieve their goals (and instead set about achieving those goals at SU), then that would also be awesome, too.

SU’s ranking has already moved up...

SU’s ranking has already moved up significantly since I’ve been here, so maybe the problem of nobody knowing how awesome SU is starting to be solved. Granted, rankings are stupid, but at least they might get us some much-deserved attention, which would help to energize the student population significantly. I also think that some curriculum changes might be appropriate, since I’m not a fan of the POK system.
