Southwestern has unusually balmy weather most months of the year. The winters are mild, but don’t underestimate them. There’s usually a week of really cold weather. Of course, that’s “really cold” by Texas standards, so think 30 degrees, not negative 30. Most students suggest bringing a single sweater, a couple of sweatshirts, and depending on what you’re used to, a medium to heavy jacket. The majority of the time it’s warm or hot. Bring lots of shorts, jeans, and T-shirts. Flip-flops are the uniform for most students, but make sure you have a pair of closed-toe shoes for the especially cold or muddy days.
Weather at Southwestern comes in two flavors: beautiful and rainy. And even on the rainy days, it’s kind of pretty, in a rainy way. Even students from nearby towns say that somehow, Southwestern has been blessed with the best weather in Texas. The only hassle is when it rains and the sidewalks flood, but that only happens for a few weeks each semester. Even rarer is the occasional snow flurry, or ice that may happen once a year. This is not really a place that sees too much seasonal change; December seems to be the only month of winter that Georgetown experiences. Overall, the weather here is gorgeous.

The Weather Is Bipolar
Central Texas weather is crazy - you rarely know if it's going to be cold, hot, or rainy. Rain boots are a necessity because the campus floods.
