St. John’s diverse population of students is drawn to the campus from across the United States and around the world. One of the best things about St. John’s is its diversity; St. John’s has one of the most diverse student populations in the country and supports a wide variety of student groups and organizations that cater to all ethnicities, religions, and interests.
There has been some negative reaction to all of this uniqueness, however. Because of the increased diversity, many students accuse the University of placing more weight on race and ethnicity than grades. Whether or not that claim has any basis of truth, the city of New York itself is a gigantic melting pot where all cultures have an opportunity to learn from each other. Diversity is inescapable on and off campus, and students are learning to not only deal with one another, but to also appreciate each other’s cultures (some are learning faster than others).

School needs to stop being so money hungry. Should put more focus on the education instead of the money.

A Wide Variety.
St. Johns is a very racially and economically diverse university. The vast majoriety is, of course, catholic but other religions are well accepted.

Not many gays or lesbians are open on campus. Also, there are not any clubs or organizations dedicated to them.
Amnesty International, College Democrats, College Republicans, and student government are a few politically active organizations on campus.
St. John’s accepts all walks of life, from low-income to upper-class students.
Most students are Catholic, and other students are unsure of their religious beliefs, while other religions such as Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Protestant, and agnostic make up another subset.
Minority clubs are very plentiful on campus, organizing people of different nationalities, sexes, and interests.
