College Prowler Take

The facilities at St. John’s are, for the most part, very nice. Carnesecca Arena and the St. Agustin Library have both been renovated. They are up-to-date and incredibly nice. Also notable is Taffner Field House, a state-of-the-art recreation gym for both athletes and regular students. The classrooms and other facilities at St. John’s are all in great shape, with the exception of Marillac Hall. Marillac is in desperate need of renovations, but no plans are in place to do so. The University Center (UC), a fall 2009 addition, houses organizations, a coffeehouse, a bowling alley, and many other things.

St. John’s is investing heavily in updating and adding new facilities to the campus. While some of the older buildings show some wear and tear, most agree that the facilities around campus are adequate. The school does a good job of trying to provide new additions, as well. St. John’s is certainly trying its best to provide proper facilities to its students.

The facilities are nice. The gym is great with different machines to work out on. The library is large and is said to be one of the best libraries in the city. There are many study rooms where students can form groups and prepare for exams.

I don’t really use the facilities because most of the athletes overcrowd them. I don’t understand why I have to pay for a gym when I should be able to use the one at the school free of charge.

Campus is pretty nice; they are adding many new buildings and trying to accommodate the students better. Also, the best thing is that mostly everything is within walking distance which makes it easier for the students.

The campus is just the right size. All of the facilities are within walking distance, especially the dining hall and classes. This is definitely a big plus, because after classes when I just want unwind, I don’t have to walk off to Guam for some enjoyment. There are also lots of selections that I can do just to chill out without having to come off campus.

They should build a gym by the dorms. It would make it easier for students to get to it, instead of having to walk to the other side of campus, which is about 10 minutes away.

There is not too much to do on campus. Beyond exercising and the occasional special event, St. John’s does not have many things to engage students. However, this is set to change with the opening of the new UC in 2009.
