Canton is a small town, so it doesn't have the widest variety of dining options. It has the typical fast food places, such as Jreck Subs and the always-popular "Mickey D's." The options for pizza or Chinese are the most popular, including Sergi's and Josie's pizzerias, as well as the Asian Buffet & Grill. Most students are familiar with their menus by the end of one semester. Italian restaurants are also common, but overall, there are limited choices for ethnic food. The upside to Canton’s small selection is that many of these restaurants are within walking distance, so they are easily accessible from campus.
For healthier options, Canton has the Blackbird Café and the Partridge Café. The Blackbird is especially popular, and though small, it provides refreshingly unique choices and focuses on using local produce. Nature's Storehouse is another great place to buy organic, and like the Blackbird and the Partridge, is moderately priced. Potsdam, which is 10 miles away, is a slightly larger town with greater variety. It has more sit-down restaurants that are good for Family Weekends or dates. It also has a greater variety of ethnic food. While some places that offer more variety are more expensive, they are great for treating yourself, especially at the end of the semester when Dana's options gets too repetitive.
