Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most of the Stanford experience revolves around on-campus activities. On any given weekend, there are many popular parties on campus, especially in Greek houses. There are also many house parties and/or progressives. Many Stanford students hang out with their small groups of friends on Saturdays and Sundays before going out to major parties.

Students are usually satisfied with the campus nightlife, and when it gets old, students go into the city, on occasion, to experience a new atmosphere. It is true that Stanford's spring quarter is the best quarter for nightlife and parties. There is something to do almost every day of the week, and it always involves something exciting and fun.

Work Hard, Play Hard!

There is always something to do and some where to go. We are a work hard, play hard type of school. If you can't find something to do, they are always people going somewhere who can help you.

Lacking Underage Nightlife

If you have no car, not good. If you're under 21, not that great. Campus parties need more room to dance and better djs. But if you go with very fun people, then it is worth it.

Fratastic

The options to go out on weekends are limited to the Row, which depending on your scene may or may not be a good thing. Alcohol is available, everything is in walking distance, but the all-campus parties do officially close at 1am. There is definitely no pressure to go out; some people stay in and do homework or watch movies, and no one will judge you for it. Nights are definitely hit-or-miss.

Club Crawler

There are only a couple of clubs right around campus. Students don’t visit them very often, but once in a while, it can be fun. For more serious clubbers, San Francisco is the way to go.

Organization Parties

Frats and sororities throw a lot of parties on the weekends.

Did You Know? Every Thursday night is "Senior Night" at Stanford. The senior class picks an off-campus location and hosts a party for seniors only. Some weeks, these nights are at casual bars, while other weeks, seniors dress up and wine and dine at five-star restaurants in the city. The senior class also organizes and subsidizes bus rides to get to and from the event.
