College Prowler Take
The verdict is in: most students are overwhelmingly happy with the Stanford experience. The combination of challenging academics, undergrad-oriented faculty, diverse students, beautiful weather, and a fairly social campus environment all combine to make for a great four years of college. Students, particularly those in engineering or sciences, might find the workload to be especially heavy at times, but most are capable and want to work hard in the first place. Perhaps the biggest challenge students face at Stanford is just dealing with the other students, who range from hippies to hyper-competitive pre-meds. It makes for an interesting environment, but also a stressful one. However, if you immerse yourself in it long enough, it will eventually start to feel reasonably normal. Despite the problems that Stanford students find with the University, they overwhelmingly agree that Stanford is “their place,” and can’t imagine being anywhere else. It seems all the hype and the hefty price tag are well justified by the experiences that students can, and will, have here. If you’re looking for a university with a big name, vibrant population, and a good balance of work and fun, Stanford University will not disappoint.

This place is called ‘Camp Stanford’ for a reason. Palm trees, sun, a friendly and down-to-earth student body, and a flexible academic schedule are pretty much the makings of a design-your-own paradise. People here care about succeeding, but they care equally about friendship and savoring the time they have here. Consider it a challenging, rigorous, delightful vacation. |

Stanford gives you great...
Stanford gives you great opportunities. The downside to attending Stanford is that it can feel competitive at times, and you might feel intimidated by that. The big thing to keep in mind is that many people are so smart and study so hard that they tend to be a little weird. But I have some great friends that are very down-to-earth. I am kind of bummed about the dating scene right now because I had a few girlfriends in high school, and now that’s not the case. But I am here mainly to learn, so I am happy. |

I honestly can’t imagine being anywhere else, but I think everyone says that about his or her school. I genuinely love Stanford, though, because it is an awe-inspiring institution, while managing to be quirky and personal. I wouldn’t trade my experiences here for anything. |

I don’t know what it’s like to attend school anywhere else, but Stanford is an interesting, comfortable, and non-intimidating place to be. |

Stanford is an amazing place...
Stanford is an amazing place offering a great education, a great social life, and great sports. Palo Alto is a little dull, but San Francisco is nearby, and there are always a lot of things happening on campus. I am incredibly happy here, and I think that it is the greatest place on earth. It isn’t for everyone, though. |
