I recently joined a fraternity on campus. Before I joined I though greek life was pointless and was a way to pay for friends. I had no trouble making my own friends without greek life. A lot of my friends were actually a part of greek life. Now that I'm in a fraternity I see the things we do around campus and the community that can go easily unappreciated by someone from the outside looking in. We try harder to live on a more noble standard and we see it as essential to help the person next to us, not just those in the same organization.

Guys & Girls:
The main thing on campus is the typical frat or sorority look. If you are guy you probably dress in sperry's, jeans, and a tshirt almost daily. Girls do the same. Most people on campus dress similar to fit in.
When it comes to relationships, it depends on what you're looking for. There is something for everyone. When I first arrived I was in a long distance relationship. The distance really put a strain on us and we called it quits before the summer started. Then I stayed away from committed relationships for a while and had mostly random hook ups for about the next year. It was fun and drama free, yet it also had its lonely moments too.
This last coming semester I decided to straighten up my act and decided to end the random hookups. I started dating someone and we have been in a loving relationship the past year. Point being, anyone looking for a relationship will find one. If not, they are just as easy to avoid.

The are a variety of different restaurants off campus. Both diverse and affordable. Very few of them offer student discounts but aren't that expense anyway.

I don't live off campus, so it wouldn't be fair to give my experience.

It rains a lot in nacogdoches. Sometimes enough to have to walk to class ankle deep in water.

Our school is overly strict about certain rules. The ones that are handled in a strict manner are fairly understandable.

The parking around campus is okay. My biggest issue is the way school permit parking is set up. I live in hall 20 which is right next to our football stadium. Hall 20 one parking lot and then there is the stadium parking lot right next to it. My problem is students that live off campus are given permits which allow them to park in hall 20 and stadium spaces. This often leads to residence of hall 20 to park farther away because all their parking spaces are taken by commuters.

Campus isn't too big. Your destination is most likely less than a fifteen minute walk from where you live if you reside on campus. There are free shuttle buses around campus, making travel even more convienent.

My experience at SFA has been great so far. There is a strong sense of community around campus. For the most part most students and staff members are willing to help when they are needed. I started out alone and struggling through school thinking I could do it all on my own. After I made a few friends and decided to stop being arrogant and ask for help school became easy. My grades got better, I made more friends, and I now find myself being the one to help other students.

Financial aid is the largest headache. Having financial aid taken away is probably the worst feeling.

The shuttles on campus are a very BIG help especially for the off-campus students.

Regardless of your craving there is always somewhere to dine for off-campus students.

Only downfall is when the weather is bad outside. It interferes with the wifi and internet connections in the library.

Off-campus parking is a very big hassle. There have been many accidents because of the lack ofparking and the urgency in finding one.

Campus strictness is perfect. They lay down the rules and let students know the do's and dont of on campus living but in the end the students are responsible for themselves.

Not the best. For all the money that is being paid the food should be better and available.

The only con that is visible is the lack of one bedroom apartments. As students grow older having a roommate becomes unrealistic. People want their own space and privacy.
