Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

To say the least, people here do not like the fact that there is a horrible selection of on-campus dining. In the defense of Stetson, it’s a small campus, and they feel that three serving facilities is adequate. Of course as a student, we know otherwise. There must be selection. What I hope for are some needed improvements on selection, and the dumping of bad menu items. After a while, most students decide to not get a meal plan and use cash as they go. Students are genuinely tired of the selection and wish to see the meal plan requirements met by serving students the appropriate $9 worth of food. The actual amount usually sold at a standard student meal is worth around $5. Obviously, the facilities are making a good profit. Either the students are upset and wanting more for their dollar, or they want to have a decent menu selection so that they have the decision to choose.

Pretty Good but Very Repetitive.

There is a great variety of food but it becomes monotonous after a while when you see the same food being served every other week.

For Gluten-Free/Celiacs/Cave(Wo)Men

I have severe reactions to gluten, like pass out, migraine, heart problems, depression, and so on. And I was having issues and they really tried to work with me on it, but there was so much cross-contamination that it was impossible. If you have severe allergies make sure you go through the annoying and painful process of opting out of meal plans. It's worth not passing out in class. Also, the food was not very good when I did eat there. Nothing was fresh or really tasty and healthy. I found it strange that a school so hell-bent on "green" wasn't using sustainable foods or local growers. For what they charge you, which is outrageous, they give you the cheapest food.

Okay, but Slightly Repetitive

The food in the "commons," the cafeteria, for me, is almost always delicious and nutiricous. I eat a vegan diet, and I eat well. I wish their were organic foods, however.

In the cafeteria, there are always lots and lots of foods, of all different kinds. The desserts always look like they're from five-star restaurants.

There is a coffee shopo that "proudly serves Starbucks Coffee."

There is an Einstein Bro's Bagel, and a Newton's Grill.

Many potlucks and events take place often, offering usually healthy and/or organic foods.

Did You Know? Be kind to the people who serve the food, and get to know them. If they like you, you may get some special treatment. An example would be cooking something not on menu at the grill in the Commons. And even if you don't get special treatment, treat the people well—it's a small campus.
