Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The on-campus housing leaves something to be desired. There are problems with mold, mildew, and the age of some of the buildings. Some students seriously mistreat the buildings and seem to have no regard for responsibility. There are plans to build better dorms, and there are always things being done to improve the ones already here. The thing to remember is that the rooms are small, but with careful furniture management and roommate cooperation, it can be a decent place to live. The hardest thing is finding a roommate that has a compatible personality. There is a small personality test, but it doesn’t do much. The University does offer a move-out period for situations that require it. A good way to tell if it will work out with a roommate is if you go to sleep at similar times. If you don’t, it can be seriously annoying. Most on campus go to sleep by 2 a.m. It is important to notice this when adapting efficiently to college life and those 8 a.m. classes. Other than all of that, the rooms will be annoying, but planning furniture placement and having a good roommates can make it an enjoyable environment.

Housing Is Decent.

Stetson is a really closely knit campus and no matter what dorm you are in you are a close walk to your classes and to the food. Housing is getting very frustrating however as they keep taking more students than they have housing for. Signing up for housing after your freshman year is a nightmare and the chances of you getting what you want are slim. There also just aren't enough options. The rooms themselves are good. They are reasonably sized and even the sharing of a public bathroom wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Although I am glad that after freshman year you can get a suite-style room with one bathroom between four people. For Freshmen I recommend Carson for guys and Hollis for girls. Carson and Hollis share a common room, the laundry room is good, and the bathrooms are the best for Freshmen. Gordis is also a decent dorm but you don't get a common room and the laundry facilities are terrible.

Good If Kept Silent.

Stetson dorm rooms are great because they have plenty of space and a variety of places to live. They also have dorms closer to the main buildings in campus, however, these dorms are usually louder regardless of the silent rules. so if you want something silent at night nemec might be a good choise for you although it is far away from the main buildings.

Dorms Are Okay

The dorms are relatively nice, old though. Sorority houses are clean but the frats are so nasty.
