College Prowler Take

Stony Brook University has an abundance of eateries, which can range from very poor to very tasty. The deli on campus serves Boar’s Head brand meats and makes the sandwiches in front of you. At the grill, you can get a cheeseburger, Philly cheesesteaks, fried chicken sandwiches, you name it. There are kosher and vegetarian options in select places, such as the Delancey Street Deli. Veggie burgers and salads are available in most of the dining facilities.

The largest dining hall is in the Student Activities Center and can accommodate any appetite. Options there include fresh pizza made in a brick oven, sushi, Au Bon Pain soups, and more. It can get crowded during peak hours, but you can navigate through it quickly if in a rush. The Wang Center features the Jasmine Food Court, which has authentic chefs straight out of New York City who make sushi and other Asian dishes. If you’re in the mood to be served, Wolfie’s Restaurant is the closest place you can go to on campus. It serves pretty much anything you could want. Roth Dining Center includes a Wendy’s and Tabler Café with a Dunkin Donuts. There is also a Starbucks in the Union.

The food on campus is pretty good. There's a very large variety, and you can have something different pretty much everyday. I do miss my mom's home cooking, but the school still does a good job. I especially love that they have a Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Starbucks on campus. The main dining hall is in the SAC, where they have good food that changes daily. However, from 5 to 7 p.m., it gets really crowded because everyone is getting dinner. There's a 24-hour dining hall on campus, as well as a Asian-themed dining hall with Chinese, Korean, and Indian cuisine. My favorite place to eat is at Wolfie's, which is a sit-down restaurant on campus. The great thing is you can use your meal points at all these places.

There are many places to eat around campus with a variety of foods to choose from, including Taco Bell and Wendy's to traditional American, Chinese, and Indian food. The food is very expensive, though.

The food on campus is okay. I live near Kelly Dining Center, and there is not much there except for an awesome deli and Blue Agave. There then is Roth's with Wendy's, a universal favorite on campus. The Union, is also very good. If you like Asian food, you'll love Jasmine!

We actually do have 24/7 dining on campus. All the residential dining halls are open until midnight, and one is open until 3 a.m. We also have a hospital with great food on campus, which is open until 4:30 a.m., and then opens again at 5:15 a.m., seven days a week. It is just a short walk away, it is reasonably priced, and they will take cash for most students.

Did You Know?

Jasmine offers Indian, Thai, sushi, and also features a Japanese grill. This restaurant comes from the great minds of Rajesh Bhardwaj and Sushil Malhotra, whose trademarks are the best and freshest ingredients mixed with an elegant setting and authentic cuisine. Bhardwaj was a food and beverage manager at one of India’s largest luxury hotel chains, and Malhotra opened Dawat, rated by Zagat as the best Indian restaurant in New York City.
