While Binghamton may not boast any world-class restaurants, it does have a few hidden gems, some trendy cafés, and just about every conceivable chain in existence. There is an abundance of cheap Italian food, and many places stay open late for eat-in or delivery. Getting to most of these places without a car may prove difficult, but most students are more than willing to venture off campus to escape the tedium of the dining halls.

Decent food at a cheap price is the hallmark of Binghamton eateries, the perfect combination for college students. There are also a handful of more upscale restaurants for when the parents come to visit, but be warned that many places will raise prices during major events like Parent’s Weekend and graduation.

Not Much Variety

There aren't many original or unusual dining options here. Downtown and further in the city there seems to be decent restaurants that are small businesses; however, all you will really find are large chain restaurants and a lot of buffets.

Off-Campus Restaurants

Vestal/Binghamton/Johnson City have a lot of options for just about any diet. The university is located on Vestal Parkway where you can also find just about every major chain restaurant you can think of. If that's not your scene, there's plenty of stuff to do in downtown Binghamton. There are a number of ethic eateries such as Thai, Chinese, Indian and Turkish food located in the downtown area. Also, every semester there is "Restaurant Week," where a large group of local restaurants offer 3-course lunch and dinner specials for a flat rate.

Many Restaurants Nearby

There are a decent number of places to eat right off campus along the main road, ranging from fast food to very nice restaurants for the family or friends. Places to eat are relatively easy to get to so long as you can drive or are willing to walk ten minutes.
