Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

From the on-campus resident who only takes his car out once a week to an off-campus commuter who drives to class every day, everyone can agree that parking is a nightmare. The main resident lots are located far away from the dorms, and the commuter lots fill up by early morning. Unless you have class impossibly early or impossibly late, commuters can expect an impossibly long walk to the academic buildings. Some students that live on campus talk about driving around for more than an hour before finding a spot. Giant piles of snow make for an even messier situation during the long winter months.

As if the parking situation doesn’t sound bad enough now, things are only going to get worse. Increased enrollment, a rise in students living on campus, and new construction projects encroaching on existent parking spaces will all combine to further aggravate residents and commuters alike. The condition of the parking lots themselves are far from ideal. There are lots of pot holes and cracked cement just waiting to flatten a tire. Perhaps the freshman car ban is a blessing in disguise.

Disaster

If you aren't on campus by 11:40, forget about it. You will park off past the sticks, and may just get raped a la Deliverance fashion. Be sure not to squeal like a pig for dignity's sake.

Seriously, for a University like this (the "Public Ivy") they really have their heads up their asses. It costs 130$ or so for a year long parking pass, and parking tickets are enforced all the time. Expect to pay upwards of 150$ per year with the misc. costs.

Also, be sure to be in great shape. You will be walking very far to get to where you need to be.
