Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

In high school, students sometimes feel trapped by the same people all around them, people who have carried an opinion about each other all through their younger years. At Brockport, people generally don’t judge or ridicule people for being different, but instead, diversity is welcomed. There are endless opportunities to build a resume and become involved on campus. There is something for everyone, and many leadership opportunities are available, as well. Teachers are concerned about students' education and work hard to help them. They are open and available for advice and help.

Aside from academics, Brockport students have many opportunities to be involved on campus, including such experiences as working for the school radio station or studying abroad. The school works with students to help make sure their credits transfer and that financial aid is accounted for. The school is safe with blue emergency lights all over campus, and the University Police are always on guard. Another added perk: Among the SUNY schools, the College at Brockport has been named no. 1 in dining services since 1994.

I Don't Regret Recreation and Leisure

When I first entered college I was a journalism major, but switched to recreation and leisure studies concentrated in tourism management because working in a hotel struck me as entertaining. Sure the program needs more tourism concentration, it still is a good program.

It's Diverse Enough

There are some minorities, but you don't really see them. It is mainly a campus of white students, but you have diversity as they partner with many schools overseas so there are study abroad students.

Iffy

They claim to be number 1, but that is in dining service not food. The cookies are to die for at harrison dining hall. Union Square is a rip off you are better spending your money on one of the deliciously awesome hot chocolates. Meal plans are reasonably priced. Dining dollars roll over from fall to spring, but not spring to fall, you have to use them by the end of the each school year or lose them. There is enough variety and when there is a good dinner, the line for the dining hall will go out the door and outside the building.
