Health & Safety:
The university is small and everyone seems to know each other. The sense of community is really great. The only concerns I have are that I've heard of a few people getting mugged or houses broken into.

Parking passes are free for SUNY-ESF students as long as you register with the police station. The passes only allow you to park on campus after 5 on weekdays, anytime on weekends, except two hours before or after a Carrier Dome event. Most students walk to class or ride their bikes so it doesn't really affect students ability to get to class.

The drug/alcohol scene at SUNY-ESF are pretty consolidated to a couple of groups. Nobody ever feels pressured into doing it, but its also available if you feel inclined.

In 2011 SUNY-ESF had just opened up a new dorm building for strictly SUNY-ESF students. Previous years we stayed in dorms at Syracuse University which I preferred because it allowed us to have a larger social network.

The small scale of classes has allowed me to truly bond with my professors and have allowed me to feel comfortable in my studies. They are always available for guidance and have pushed me to become a better student.

Syracuse downtown and the Syracuse university hill area each have different atmospheres. Marshall street is the university's greatest cultural asset, while Armory Square is downtowns'. I always make an effort to go out a couple times a week. There's also a ton of events at the Carrier Dome, Landmark Theatre, Westcott Theatre, and the On Center.

Syracuse University supplies most, if not all, the greek life on campus. SUNY students are rarely involved with greek life.

Computer labs are available only when classes are not occupying the rooms. The only computers that are reliably available are in Moon library, which always run slowly. Otherwise, I bring my own laptop to class and hop on the school's WiFI. Printing is cheap and is free to print large scale drawings for landscape architecture students.

Most of the computers in the Computer Labs have new models of both Apple computers and Dell computers. And no matter where you are there is always a WiFi signal.

There are always buses running because the ESF Campus is connected to the Syracuse University Campus and all transportation on these buses is free if you traveling around the campus.

Guys & Girls:
There are plenty of different guys at ESF , and all of them are very active in the social life at ESF. Almost all of the girls are very attractive, but you might get whiplash the first few times you see them.

Great Environmental and forestry school with a large variety of classes

Students are charged to keep control of themselves. Wait till youre 21 or you will most likely get caught and be put on academic probation. The campus police are sure to find you out if you are throwing a party or doing drugs or anything!!

There are quite a few good options with the Syracuse Dining Halls open to students. Very assorted foods that taste great that are in the snack shops and other vendors!

It is really windy and can be lots of snow. However, it is New York - a great place regardless of the weather outside!

Basically no one drinks. Drugs are not prevelant practically at all. Lots of cool people who know how to have clean fun!!

The process of getting into my Science major was relatively easy. I didn't have to do a special application or go through a specific process. I just applied using the SUNY Application and followed the instructions on there. I am a transfer student, so I had to work hard and achieve good grades in my first two years of school. The advisers and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry then pick your classes for you.

Although there is the occasional crime email, a majority of them are on Syracuse University's campus. I felt very safe walking around ESF's campus. If you are off campus at night and need to get back to the dorms, you can call campus police and have them escort you.
College Sophomore 2013-05-11T07:56:39Z
The dorms are beautiful! They are very spacious and you and your roommate have your own bathrooms. The only downsides are the the cost of the dorms, the cost to do laundry, and the frequent fire drills.

I take a free shuttle from my off campus apartment on a daily basis. There is a radius around the campus where its free to ride city buses. There are also a number of shuttles solely for living off campus. There is a bus that brings you to tops for free and also Friday and Saturday night free buses to the mall. Lots of things are well within walking distance as well.
College Senior 2013-04-08T01:38:29Z
Syracuse is a great city it seems relatively safe and the area where the campuses are is great. There is a lot of shopping and lots of buses that will take you there even free ones from campus on Friday and Saturday nights. There's lots of places to eat and hang out near campus. It seems like there are lots of parties, I just don't party in general.
College Senior 2013-04-08T01:28:25Z
Syracuse is a pretty big party school and it is impossible to separate SU partying from ESF partying ok probably not impossible, but of course parties are mixed. I don't personally party, but thats my own problem not ESF I know I could easily go to plenty of parties if I wanted

We don't have our own dining halls so we eat at Syracuse University dining halls. Being such a large and well-known institution, they have multiple dining halls (5), snack bars, food courts, campus delivery, cafes, and more. There are numerous food choices at all of the locations, and it is of pretty good quality compared to other schools I've eaten at.

Every single major offered at SUNY-ESF is in the field of Environmental Science. The professors here are truly dedicated to teaching us how to think with the environment and the future in mind. Because each and every student here cares about the environment and making a difference in the work with their major, all of the people here are very real and down to earth.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
