Greek life is there for parties and some other events, but it doesn't dominate at Brown. It's not a big deal if you are in a frat or sorority, and it is not a big deal if you never set foot in one. It's nice because you can go to frat parties, which can be fun, but it's not a status thing.

all people in sororities I've met so far are super sweet. sure the parties aren't open but they're friendly and willing to invite non greeks if you get to know them better. and the guys are super hot lol.

Greeks play a huge role at Geneseo. There are sororities and frats for almost any major. It is a good way to get involved and meet people.

Geneseo Greek: Kind of a Big Deal – Greek life is a pretty big deal on campus. A lot of people are involved in Greek life, which can either isolate you or help you to meet new people depending on whether or not you decide to pledge. If you are not a social butterfly, joining a sorority or frat can be a good way to get involved on campus and meet new people. However, wherever you decide to pledge, you will be tying yourself to whatever the stereotypes surrounding your sorority or frat. In a sense, Greek life can cause people to make assumptions about you due to the reputation of your sorority or frat. Frats are less strict about Non-Greeks showing up at parties than the sororities. The sororities can be pretty cliquey and are not always welcoming to new faces. However, there are things for Non-Greeks to do on campus, if you know where to look.

Greeks at Geneseo are making a comeback after being put down a few years ago. There are service, professional, social and multicultural Greek organizations to choose from. You don't have to be Greek, but it is a great experience
