I had to apply for financial aid twice because some of the information that I put on the forms were wrong so, instead of contacting me they threw out my application. The second time I looked over everything before I submitted. I made sure I checked my email daily for any updates and I called and talked to a financial counselor a couple of times.

The financial aid office is very helpful and they understand how confusing starting school can be. Since my brother is also in college we got a bit of aid money but not as much as a private school. However, the price of a SUNY school isn't too bad.

It's a state school, so if you live in New York, it's fairly cheap compared to other schools. However, there are no scholarships for incoming freshman, and all of my financial aid comes in the form of loans. Some of my friends qualified for work study as financial aid, but I did not. I would say in order to really get financial aid look to outside scholarships, and scholarships within your actual program.

I got good financial aid and they were very helpful. I was never confused about any part of the process.
