They have a worn out turf field, but its better than rocky grass

The school offers hardly anything to do, which can make it miserable if you stay here on the weekends. In the regiment you have to earn everything from shower shoes in the hallways to 10 mins extra in the morning. The best housing is on 5th floor bayliss since somehow they have a/c.

I'm fairly pleased with the selection off campus at Maritime. There's diners, delis, pizza places, restaurants, chinese, fast food. There are plenty of options in Throgs Neck. Its a bit of a walk to the nearest food place (a deli), but its not too bad. Mostly every place delivers so thats a plus. Muscle Maker Grill offers discounts to SUNY students but I'm not sure where else does. Overall the off-campus dining is great!

there is a bus right outside the security gate of teh school at all times to teh city so getting around is really good. The Buses and Trains are really our only option becuase the taxi services are really expensive and not an option.

There are only a hand full of places that give students discounts. Mostly the pizzarias. The stores a re close by but the quality is average. A place called Toscas is proabably the nicest restuarant around and serves the best food but it is also more expensive so not many people go there unless there is an occasion

The school is extremely strict. They have doors that open with only i.d cards that monitor who is going in and out of the buildings. there are also cameras in every stairwell monitoring the movement through the floors. If you are in the regiment you are given a special sticker to be placed on your uniform that way you can always be identified. Alcohol is completely banned from campus. anyone found with any type alcohol will recieve punishment ( restriction and probabtion) . Restriction and probabtion means that the student is not allowed to leave the campus grounds at all for a certian period of time and must check in every evening during the week and every 5 hrs on the weekend

Guys & Girls:
The school is mostly male. There is a 15:1 male female ratio . Due to the cadet program and the Rotc offered on campus mmore than half the male popluation is in very good shape. Many care about having a healthy life style and are in to eating healthy and working out. Over recent years the females have become better with the way the carry themselves. Since the campus is very strict many people leave for the weekends. The bar scene is high also since there is no alcohol allowed on campus.
For the females on campus it is always more difficult. Since there are very few females they are all known. If a job is done correctly it is never just a job well done, it is because they have "boobs" and are a girl and "get it easier" . But then they are also worked harder BECAUSE they are females(regimental). As long is you are a female there is no true satisfaction in the work that you do .

Since the campus has a regiment of cadets that must abide by the rules and regulations of the coast guard it is requirement that none of the students in the program consume any types of drugs. This rule is held in place by weekly random drug test sent out by the coast guard. Suny Maritime is also a dry campus and this is held to a high level also. Those found with any alcohol contents in their possetion are imediately penalized and put on probabtion. After the second offense the student is disenrolled in both the program and school. The flaw to this system is that the students not in the program do not recieve any of the above testings. Although the school may have a control over a large population of the students they do not have control over what all of them do.

students who live on campus have to pay for parking every year and the parking space are only available during your third year at the school and after.

The nightlife near the school consists mostly of bars, not too many clubs. The bulk of the bars are in close proximity to each other so if one is dead then you can always just go down the block to a more lively one. Only downside is it might be a sausage fest due to all the guys in the school and the occasional drunk and angry local. But on the upside, NYC is just a subway ride away and it's filled with countless clubs and bars that are always a good time

The school is predominantly white. there are Turkish and Bahemian exchange students but it doesn't really do much.

The food is pretty average, it's better on the weekends because you are given more options. However during the week, the food is ok, nothing special about it. Not to mention, a lot of "easy" foods get messed up.

More communication between each member of the department would make the process even easier.

Transportation into Manhattan from the college campus is relatively easy. There is an MTA Bus station at the front gate which is very convenient for all students and staff. There are also express bus stops within close range and the main train station is only 15 mins or less away.
