On-campus housing at SUNY New Paltz consists of pretty typical college dorms. There are two different styles of dorm halls: suite and corridor. If you choose to live in (or are placed in) suite dorms, your room will be grouped with two or three other rooms, all of which share a common room and a bathroom with two sinks, a shower, and a toilet. It's like living in an apartment with five roommates, which is really cool. However, maintenance only comes to clean once a month, so you and your roommates are responsible for the tidiness of the suite.
If you live in a corridor-style hall, maintenance staff cleans the bathrooms every day. Corridor bathrooms are shared by everyone on your floor; they generally have three shower stalls, one bathtub, nine sinks, and four toilet stalls. There are also lounges on each floor that have a kitchen and a microwave. On-campus living can be awesome, especially in one's underclassman years, but most juniors and seniors agree that off-campus living is preferable. No RAs (resident assistants) or rowdy freshmen to deal with!
