New Paltz's Main Street is lined with awesome, family-owned restaurants, many of which employ SUNY students. Some favorites include Mexicali Blue (a taco/burrito joint that prides itself in using only fresh ingredients), the Main Street Bistro (the Saturday and Sunday morning brunch hot spot with a can't-be-beat breakfast special for $2!), and Karma Road (the organic vegan café downtown).
Those looking for ethnic cuisine can head to Yanni's for a gyro, Lemongrass for some delicious pad thai, Anatolia for Turkish delight, or one of the many Chinese and Japanese spots around town. American cuisine is also available, notably at P&G's, which transforms into a popping bar at night. There are also chain restaurants like McDonald's and Subway farther up Main Street. Many spots have special deals, like "Wing Night" at McGillicuddy's, where you can spring for 40-cent wings!
