SUNY Oswego is its own community. There is constant energy on the campus, creating an atmosphere perfect for students who are willing to try new experiences, meet new people, and have fun while preparing for the future. College is a transition period, and it is all about what you make of it. SUNY Oswego offers students a wide variety of courses, majors, minors, and clubs that can help students expand their resumes as well as their experiences for future careers. There are study abroad programs offered for numerous countries in spring, fall, and summer sessions. Oswego also offers quarter courses, where you take a class and then travel to the country or area you are studying. There are quarter courses for Paris, Rome, Ecuador, Istanbul, and several other countries. If you are interested in radio production, television production, or newspaper writing, SUNY Oswego’s Campus Center is the home for the offices of WTOP, WNYO 88.9 FM, and The Oswegonian. Get first-hand experience with being on television, having your own radio show, and writing for an award-winning college newspaper. There is a wide variety of clubs, including equestrian, skiing, dance, outdoors, geology, the Asian Student Association, roller hockey, and more than a hundred others.

The City of Oswego is a college town. Bridge Street is the main road through the city and is lined with bars, pizza places, and Chinese restaurants. There are also several excellent restaurants and cafés including Red Sun, Coffee Connection, and Canale's. You don’t have to go far to get incredible food. Overall, the majority of students would agree that SUNY Oswego is an exceptional college. The staff prepares students for the future and encourages them to do their best. This is a campus full of opportunities for a student to get ahead and succeed.

Local Atmosphere at SUNY Oswego

Vibrant Campus

There is always something to do on the campus, and it is not necessary to consume alcohol to enjoy oneself. Sober parties are held too! Plus, public transportation offers students an opportunity to explore Oswego, and shopping is a must.

Party School?

While I abstain from addictive substances, SUNY Oswego has a certain reputation for alcohol abuse. Parties involving drunken behavior are commonplace, and it is almost certain to me that marijuana is involved, though of course I rarely see it being used.
