Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The University really isn’t too strict if you’re smart about what you’re doing and don’t make it public. If you act like a hooligan, you’ll get treated like one. Often, you hear about kids being put on probation for drinking in their rooms, but the majority of these kids had their doors open, music blasting, and alcohol containers out for everyone to see. It’s fairly simple to avoid UPD by keeping your felonious affairs hushed. UPD is more lenient if you cooperate and probably won’t hand out anything more serious than a warning. They certainly aren’t out to get you, but that doesn’t mean they won’t provide justice where justice is due. They really crack down if you’re putting yourself or others in immediate danger, which mainly comes in the form of traffic tickets. Cops downtown are hit or miss; sometimes, they sit back and let college kids be college kids. Other times, they hand out a fiesta of tickets for things like public urination and disturbing the peace.

RAs, resident assistants, aren’t too strict with what’s in your room. There’s a rule that no more than 20 percent of your walls can be covered, but there are plenty of rooms covered in posters and neon lights. As long as you’re safe and smart about your activities, you won’t get yourself into trouble.

Campus police are very considerate of college students and their social lives on campus. They show great respect to all who they come in contact with. They make sure we understand the social and campus rules.

Punishment Is in Warning Styles

If you're caught once you either get probation and community service, or a warning and told to go to a certain amount of specified ResLife events. Unless, the offense is major, you can usually be let off with a warning and some community service.
