Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The University at Albany is like a microcosm of the United Nations. There are students of various races and nationalities, especially since the University is very popular among international students. It’s a common occurrence to have a student from a different country in your class or even down your hall. The majority of campus is Caucasian, but minority groups thrive, as well, and are very active on campus. The smörgåsbord of different nationalities certainly allows students to see things from different outlooks and prepares them for life in a diverse world. Religion at the University is also a mixture of numerous creeds. Though Christianity and Judaism are the most common, there are dozens of other faiths such as Islam, Muslim, and even Buddhism. All religions are expressed freely and accepted by others.

Sexual orientation is also widely recognized by students. Many clubs and organizations revolve around gay rights rallies and events that raise awareness. Students are very open and not afraid of what people will think of their lifestyle, as other students are not typically judgmental. UAlbany students are very supportive of one another, which makes campus extremely welcoming for all.

Pretty Diverse

Ualbany is a huge school, so it's pretty diverse. I commute, but from what I've seen, most students all seem accepting of each other.
