  • Buy textbooks only when the professor says you need them; often the syllabus instructs you to buy pricey textbooks you never even use.

  • Don't overpack; rooms are relatively small, and your stuff will be overbearing.
  • Exercise time management.
  • Get the smallest meal plan possible.
  • It’s a big party school.
  • The weather sucks!

Kegs and Eggs

I dare you to find something crazier than kegs and eggs. not only is it wild but it brings the school together, even though it's not really in the best way.

Facts

Traditions
  • Fountain Day: Fountain Day is probably the biggest event of the year, when students actually show pride in their school. Every year, at the beginning of spring, the school plans a day where it turns the large fountain back on. The Student Association gets vendors and DJs to participate in this all-day event. Students will skip classes, get drunk, and head to the fountain, where they dive in and celebrate the end of the school year.
  • Kegs & Eggs: The Saturday right before Saint Patrick's Day, bars open at 8 a.m. Students dress up in green and start drinking the Friday before and usually stay drunk until late Saturday night.
  • Parkfest: Every year the University plans an all-day music festival at the local fairgrounds. University at Albany students receive discounts and free shuttling to and from the event.
Urban Legends
  • Someone was killed in the tunnels located under the school.
  • The school was originally designed to be built in Arizona and create wind, and that’s why it’s always so windy on campus.
  • The second floor of Mahican Hall on Indian Quad is haunted by a ghost named Molly.
