Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The team on campus that receives the most attention is undoubtedly the football team, even though other teams have far better records. Some teams get less attention than others, particularly the golf and swimming teams. All the teams are very dedicated and have high levels of team spirit. They take their sports very seriously and obey the 48-hour rule that says that team members cannot drink within 48 hours of a meet or game. The turnout to many matches, meets, and games is pretty low when compared to the size of the student body. Many fans are supportive in a subdued sort of way, but there are always a few people in crowds (possibly fueled by alcohol) who have enough enthusiasm for everyone else.

The intramural leagues are popular; teams are made up of groups of friends or campus organizations such as fraternities or sororities. The intramural sports range from flag football to volleyball, and are a lot of fun to watch and participate in. Sports that have the title “club” instead of “team” are also popular on campus, the most popular being crew (both men’s and women’s), rugby (men’s and women’s), and ultimate Frisbee. However, just because these sports have club status, it does not mean they are any less formidable. The women’s rugby team is particularly talented.

#Scholarships

The vast majority students here are athletes becasue few people can afford the school without "community service" scholarships for athletes. Not many of the teams are very good to be honest.

Sports Are Average

We have a relatively new sports complex, with an indoor track, swimming pool, multiple basketball courts, and a gym. The trainer is usually on campus. Some of the sports are pretty good, for example girls swimming won our conference last year. We have a number of club sports that are well participated in, such as rugby, volleyball, and crew.

I play on the women's basketball team and there is very poor student involvement, fan support outside of parents, or faculty knowledge. The trainers and facilities are amazing just missing support from the University

School Spirit

The school spirit isn’t really overwhelming. If you want to go for a school that has crazy, passionate fans, this is not the place. As someone stated in the Athletics Section, “fairweather fans” is an ideal term to describe the spirit at SU.

Getting Tickets

Tickets are not necessary to attend games unless it is a special event like a conference meet or tournament.

Best Place to Take a Walk

The whole campus is very attractive, but it is also nice to walk through town and then walk down by the Susquehanna River.
