Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

SU is an incredibly wired campus. Students are able to plug their laptops in nearly everywhere and start tapping away; they can even access the Internet if they have a wireless connection. The computer labs are pretty big, and there are a lot of them throughout campus. However, some of the labs in the academic buildings close early, so around 2 a.m., everyone ends up in the Degenstein lower-floor computer lab.

In theory, students could come to SU without their own computer. However, there do not appear to be many students who do that. The general mantra seems to be that it is just more convenient to type a paper in your dorm room surrounded by your own creature comforts. The labs are generally the most crowded on weeknights between 8 and 10, so students might have trouble getting a computer at that time, but there are lots of labs tucked away throughout campus that are not as popular as the one in Deg or those in Apfelbaum. Since viruses are common on most student-owned computers, the IT department always seems to be busy. Sometimes it takes awhile for students to get their computers back, which is understandable considering the number of computers IT has to deal with on a daily basis, but it is still inconvenient.

Many Labs

There are computer labs in most of the buildings, many are open 24 hours. There are MAC and PC computers available. FREE PRINTING -- awesome.

Decent

There are multiple computer labs on campus and printing is free, so in that aspect there is nothing to complain about. However, the network can be difficult at times. My biggest complaint would be the IT on campus. The people working there are all work study students that have no clue when it comes to computers. Also, if you need a repair, at times it takes weeks to get your computer back.

Bring Your Own Computer

It can get inconvinent if you don't have your own computer, especially at crunch time. But you can almost always find a spot in one of the labs. Susquehanna University has WiFi in almost all of the buildings. Printing is free, and there's no limit, so having your own printer isn't necessary. But it is nice to have one if you're in a hurry, since the lab computers are a bit slow.
