Every weekend, rumors circulate of scores of students being caught drinking, but rumors about those caught with drugs are far more rare. While there is drug usage on campus, it is not forced on students, and it seems that while students readily use alcohol, many do not partake in other illegal substances. The most popular drug on campus is marijuana. There are whisperings of other drugs such as cocaine, but there is not a widespread use of them. It is refreshing that when students talk about cocaine, they usually seem horrified or disgusted, so it’s clearly a small group of students who use it and not the vast majority.
Some hard-core partying students will bump Adderall before drinking, but fortunately this trend has not caught on with the entire campus and remains the habit of a select few. Of course, the University does not condone such practices, but incidences of drinkers being busted are far more numerous than those of people smoking weed. However, when the public safety department receives a tip that someone is in possession of marijuana, it will search their room, resulting in unwelcome consequences for the offender.
