Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There is a good rapport in the classrooms between students despite style differences. Obviously you’re not going to find the students who worship Japanese animation at the same party as the students who wear Abercrombie, but they manage to get along in a structured environment. Importantly, every student manages to find a niche where they fit in, everyone coexists peacefully, and students will smile at or say “hi” to friends from class regardless of their social status.

Overall, the campus has a very friendly atmosphere created by the comfort level of the students. The students are attractive for the most part. It is certainly not hard to find a significant other (or drunken hookup) who has similar tastes as you. In the dating game, guys have a slight advantage because the campus is roughly 45 percent male and 55 percent female. While there are students who seem to favor making out with as many people as possible, it doesn’t seem that drunken sex is the norm. Students go home with each other and fool around, but sex with random strangers does not seem to be an overwhelming trend.

Overall both guys and girls are friendly. You definitely can find your group on campus and everyone is really willing to be friends. There are a fair amount of preppy guys and girls but it is not dominated. Really both guys and girls here are average friendly people.

um, there are about as many girls here who could be outside linebackers as there are girls you would take home to mom, and that's putting it NICELY

SU Students - Go Crusaders!

Both boys and girls are average looking. Most students are from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or other nearby New England states and come from upper to middle-class families. Relationships come and go, but it all depends on what type of relationship you're looking for. Students range from wild party animals to studious nerds.

What kinds of relationships have you had since coming to school?

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

The social scene is very active. Most students are very outgoing and will say "hi" or smile at people they pass on the walkways. Students usually walk in small groups between classes, or stop and gather outside an academic building before classes begin.

Hookups or Relationships?

There is a healthy mix of both. While some students have steady relationships coming into school, others find them after arriving. Other students prefer to keep their options open or hook up with one person for a few weeks before moving on to someone else.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

The most obvious place to meet other people is in your dorm room. Living in such close proximity, it is impossible not to start relationships with those people living around you. Another obvious place is in class.

Dress Code

Upon first examination, the Susquehanna campus can look like an episode of The Twilight Zone where a majority of the students are carbon copies of one another. A vast majority of guys wander around in shorts, flip-flops, tousled hair, and polo shirts with the collars popped. The girls generally seem to be rated on their style by their make of their handbag (the more Vera Bradleys you have, the better). In the winter, these same girls frequent tanning salons to get that "healthy" glow. However, there are other students who never got the “beach casual” memo and dress comfortably in jeans and hoodies or who march to the beat of their own drum and wear whatever the heck they feel like wearing.
