Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Public safety and health services at SU are great. All of the public safety officers are approachable and not intimidating or commanding. They make themselves visible on campus, and in the event that there is some sort of disturbance, they are quick to the scene. The campus itself feels very safe; students frequently walk by themselves late at night on their way from one building to another. However, when women walk home from off-campus parties, it is definitely a good idea to walk with at least one other person, just in case. There are many situations where a student’s safety is dependent on his own common sense as well as that of his friends. SU has had several sexual assaults in recent years, and although date rape and assault happen on all campuses, the same rules remain the most effective: Don’t put your drink down, don’t go anywhere by yourself, and always make sure your friends are accounted for. There is a standing joke between females at SU that whatever symptoms you walk into the health center with, the nurses will always ask if you need a pregnancy test. Although it seems slightly odd to be offered a pregnancy test when you’ve sprained your ankle, it’s a relief that the nurses and doctors are willing to discuss sexual activity frankly with students, as well as offer contraceptives, if needed.

Very Safe

I always felt very safe on campus, it is very private. Many of ym friends even left their doors unlocked, but I never did.

Pretty Safe

I never get nervous walking though Susquehanna's Campus. It's quiet and safe, and public saftey keeps a fairly close eye on things. I recommend keeping your dorm room locked to protect your stuff, but on campus you never have to worry about someone taking your things.
