There is a vast array of options for dining out within 20 minutes of campus. There are restaurants for all kinds of income, and nearly all are student-friendly, offering coupons frequently in campus mail. For loud, fun atmospheres, there are lots of chain places like Applebee’s. However, on the flip side, there are few great date places other than Tedd’s Landing (a seafood restaurant) and BJ’s.

The only shortcoming is that, outside of Chinese take-out restaurants, the area is lacking for ethnic restaurants; nearly every restaurant would be classified as “American cuisine.” Other than the Chinese restaurants, the only other cultural foods represented are the pizza and pasta served at the Italian pizzerias. While these places are good, most of the food has more American influence than Italian. So while there are plenty of great, affordable places to eat, if you’re into exploring new cuisines, you’re going to be a little bored at SU.
