Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The weather in Selinsgrove is just like the weather in the rest of the Northeast. While students are not on campus for the hottest time of the year, the end of August and the beginning of September can be extremely hot, as can the end of April and the beginning of May. While most dorms are air conditioned, it’s a good idea to bring a fan to circulate the cool air.

Students are on campus for all of the winter. Most students are from surrounding states, so they understand the weather and bring appropriate clothing, but those few students from warmer states are in for a shock. Even though the campus is small, the walk to class on the coldest days can be brutal. Classes are rarely cancelled because of snow since teachers live so close, so bring a hat and scarf and sensible shoes for the days you’ll be walking to class in the snow. There are other common-sense items to bring in order to be prepared for the weather. If you have a car on campus, make sure you have an ice scraper. Bring an umbrella with you because it rains. While snow boots aren’t really necessary, make sure you have one pair of shoes that you can walk over icy patches in. Everyone has seen at least one girl wipeout because she was wearing heels the day after a blizzard.

Depending on What You Like

I don't like hot sunny days, so I actually really like the weather at Susquehanna. We have a lot of rain and get a good amount of snow during the winter months. It is nice during the beginning of fall and towards the end of the Spring Semester when its sunny and students can hang out outside.

Fair Weather

It's freezing in the morning with temperatures in the 50s, but that doesn't seem to keep people from wearing shorts because it gradully heats up in the afternoon.

Really Variable

Susquehanna University is in Pennsylvania, so of course the weather is very unpredictable. The campus is always lively when the weather is nice, but it does rain a lot and we get a pretty decent amount of snow. However, a lot of professors live on campus, so don't expect a snow day. Ever.
