The housing on campus is average. There is a group kitchen and at least one lounge for every dorm but nothing special. The rooms are a bit on the small side and the old buildings make for squeaky floors and lots of bugs and dust.

The freshman dorms are pretty good, for the most part, although this coming year they'll be putting some new students into Dew, which is notorious for being awful. (It's not great, but it's not THAT horrible.) Meta Glass is larger and newer, and also houses the campus post office. (Fun fact: it also connects straight to Prothro, so you don't have to be rained on when you go to meals on a rainy day.) Meta's modular furniture is a pain, but you'll learn to live with it if you live there. I don't know much about Reid, except that it does not have an elevator and it also houses the student center. Out of the other normal dorms, Manson and Carson are reputed to be the best, but none of them are bad. Green Village, which is an apartment-style set of buildings pretty far from the rest of campus, is also really popular, as is Patteson House, a small house full of singles. The housing process is easy, with the hardest part being finding a roommate (if you want one). Campus housing is not super-close to the academic buildings, for the most part, but it's not a ridiculous walk from your dorm to most of the places you'll need to go. The RAs do a good job of encouraging a social atmosphere among the students on each hall, to the point of the RAs holding hall programs.

I lived in Reid for my first year and I really liked it. The closets are very deep and store plenty of things and, in comparison to the size of other college's dorm rooms, mine was fairly big. It sucks that you can't control the temperature of the room (the thermostat in every room is just for show), but I really only had a problem with it getting cold some times so I'd just throw another blanket on the bed or my fluffy robe on. The showers in the bathroom could use some better curtains; the ones they have now tend to fold in on themselves and leave little gaps for people to peek in through. Otherwise it's great.

Freshman dorms in Sweet Briar (Meta Glass) are pretty decent. They have pretty sufficient closet space, but the only issue is that people in their dorms cannot control the temperature in their room, so sometimes someone's room could be freezing cold!

The Freshman Dorm Meta Glass is great because it is connected to the Post Office, Dining hall Protho, Co-Curricular Life, Financial Aid, Registration Office, and Residency all that in one nut shell. How great is that and it even has a back up generator and laundry room in the basement.
