I have wanted to go to SU since I was a kid. I'm a senior, and the school has not disappointed me. As a student in the business school, I'm amazed at the seemingly endless opportunities that will undoubtedly prepare any student for a successful career. The professors know what they're doing and many have real-world experience, which brings a new element to the classroom. The business simulation games and assignments are on par with those taught in MBA programs and some, like the Capstone Business Simulation, are used in corporations nationwide. Yeah, the weather sucks, but don't let it discourage you. Overall, SU is a great university. There's no school I'd rather be at.

The best time to look is in September of each new year. It's really competitive to find a nice house for cheap and one that's close to campus. When you find one, you'll be saving money.

There are some good places to eat, but they tend to be farther from campus, such as Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Other places for good eats are Faegan's and Insomnia Cookies. There is a variety of food places to try, if you get tired of campus dining.

Some facilities are nicer than others since some of the buildings are older than others. The main library is Bird, and it's generally a good place to get work done on the upper floors.

It's really big here, and there are lines of sorority and fraternity houses along the edge of campus. It's not a big deal if your not in Greek life, but it's good to know a few people in it.

Some girls here just look the same—with their make-up, hair, clothes, and accessories. Most guys look really laid-back. There are some attractive people here, but you need to look into their personality as well.

Freshmen are not allowed to bring a car unless specified by the University. Parking is pretty expensive on campus. You must register your car for parking access, and you can only park the car you registered unless you pay extra.

Public transportation for getting around town is very convenient if you know where you are going and how to use it. You might run into some problems going to the mall during the week because the public bus sits at the same intersection for maybe 30 minutes.

It allows people to have an excuse to get drunk and party every weekend. Greek life is very prevalent on campus, and a lot of the times people go crazy or define themselves through a sorority or fraternity.

Bird Library is not a good place to work. There are no outlets for your computer, and it is always loud and full. The Carnegie Reading Room is usually pretty quiet if you actually want to work. Archbold gym is nice, but it can get really busy if you go at the wrong time. Schine Student Center is hideous but in a pretty good location. There are extension bookstores if you don't want to hike over there.

The city of Syracuse is absolutely bleak, and its atmosphere is depressing. I prefer to avoid going into the city at all costs. Between the stores on Marshall Street and the Carousel Mall (which are both only mediocre), I manage to get all the things I need. However, I wouldn't mind having access to a city that is more lively and that has a decent nightlife/cultural scene. Syracuse is dismal in that respect.

The teachers at Syracuse University are a mixed bag. Some teachers are excellent, while others are not so good. Overall, I would say that the teaching here is good. Most teachers are very helpful if you approach them. But there are a few of them, sadly, who lack a personal touch and will not make any extra effort to reach out to you. |

In my department, the professors are fantastic and are very well respected within their field. Like at any school, some professors show a greater enthusiasm than others, but overall, the professors are wonderful. Due to my professors’ enthusiasm and their ability to challenge us, I really enjoy class. I came to Syracuse because of its reputation as one of the top architecture schools in the nation. |
