I would choose Taylor if I could do it all over because despite the fact that it is in the middle of nowhere and there are a few problems that annoy me, Taylor definitely strives to offer students the best education and the administrators are constantly trying to improve the school. The desire to want to do better and not settle for mediocrity is what marks Taylor.

There is access to computers, but it is limited and almost everybody has their own laptop. Printing is very easy- can be done online and only costs a couple of cents per page (they give you 5 dollars in your credit to begin with). Network can be flimsy, but overall it is reliable.

Although people of different backgrounds are accepted, they are not understood by the general population of students. The people who go here are also generally conservative.

We do not have campus transportation.

We do not have Greek life.

I love sports, especially college football. However, Taylor's team is not that good. The students hardly ever come out to support their teams unless there are special events like Silent Night and Homecoming. The facilities are amazing. For the average, non-athletic student, there is access to superb workout equipment and open gyms.

It gets so cold and windy in the winter, and the summers are very hot. If your dorm doesn't have air conditioning, you will be sweating for the first couple of months.

The internet works well depending on where you are. If there are many people on the network, it runs very slowly.

I live in Olson hall. The rooms vary from spacious to small. I live in one of the smallest rooms. If you want to change roommates halfway through the year, good luck. The reception for that kind of thing is awful due to politics mostly. Changing rooms, even for the most legitimate reasons doesn't "foster a sense of community." The front desk does not often resupply their food. The laundry room is good, and so is the kitchen. Boys are only allowed two days a week for certain hours, so that is very unfortunate.

Health & Safety:
compared to most colleges we have a great health system. It is easy book an appointment to go to the health center, and get an excused absence accordingly. There is basically one campus cop, and is more than enough because we are in the middle of a cornfield.

financial aid is pretty good from what I hear, easy to get from what I understand.

The age of buildings ranges on campus. While some still don't have A/C others are brand new. The buildings are cleaned every day except sat/sun which is very nice. dorms are average size. Dorm life is very accepting and it is easy to be a part of your floor community. PA(RA)s are strict when it comes to anything contraband, otherwise are okay, some might be strict on quiet hours while others don't care as much.

Taylor doesn't have a 'nightlife'. Taylor is a dry campus and it is tightly enforced.
College Junior 2013-11-11T20:16:30Z
Typical mid-west weather. Gets cold and nasty towards the winter. Taylor is in Upland which is the highest point (most altitude) in Indiana so the winter wind can get nasty.

Parking is very good compared to any state school. parking is very cheap and tickets are rare unless you are in the wrong place for a very long time. There is basically only one campus cop so he is not too hard to avoid. the only parking shortcoming is there is a lack of parking by the Samuel Morris Hall and Swallow Robbin area

Literally the worst dining plan ever. The Dining commons is only open certain hours for breakfast lunch and dinner and unless you are a senior or have a filled schedule it is you're only option. being an on campus student you are required to buy this poor value dining plan. The Dining Commons lacks both variety and quality. On the weekends there are even less options for food. I go out whenever I can, although there are few restaurants nearby.

Taylor has pretty good academics, you get out what you put in. the professors are very willing to meet with you and help wherever possible. workload varys between professors.
College Junior 2013-11-11T20:07:10Z
Taylor offers many majors and minors some being more difficult or requiring more work/time than others. Taylor is not fantastic in any one particular area, but they aren't horrible in any area either.
College Junior 2013-11-11T20:04:10Z
Taylor has awful off campus housing. not because there aren't houses and apartments available, it's simply that Taylor will not let you move into them. Taylor trys hard to keep students on campus regardless of what students want. Taylor claims its to 'build community' but the majority reason is they just want your money.
College Junior 2013-11-11T20:00:05Z
We have good athletics, but poor team support. The school definitely does not revolve around sports. However the athletics here are still pretty decent.

A lot can be done landscaping wise to beautify the campus. There are also several outdated buildings.

While alcohol and drugs are present on this campus, if you want to avoid them it is rather easy to do so.

Not a whole lot going on.

There are very few off-campus housing options at Taylor University. Taylor prides itself on being a close knit community, and therefore most students are encouraged to life on campus during their time at Taylor.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
