Facts

Tips for Getting In
  • Ask your admissions counselor what his or her favorite Ivanhoe's shake is.
  • Be honest about yourself. Taylor wants unique individuals with unique strengths and struggles.
  • Be open to following God's will: If He wants you at Taylor, He'll make it possible for you.
  • Be willing to make friends and have fun.
  • Become a good essay writer; you'll need to write them for applications and scholarships.
  • Come visit campus and become connected with some of the staff.
  • Doing well on the ACT and/or the SAT is critical to receiving academic scholarships; retake them as many times as possible to improve your score.
  • Don't wait until the last minute to file your application. Some students receive the option of applying early, which increases their chances of acceptance.
  • Find out what placement tests you qualify for and study for them as best you can.
  • Get in contact with Taylor early during your high school career, preferably during your junior year.
  • Have a positive attitude during your interview and try to mention "community" during it.
  • If you know in advance what your major will be, get a head start on the type of work that you'll be doing in college. For example, if you're majoring in music, make sure you have some basic music theory knowledge before coming to Taylor.
  • Know yourself—because Taylor wants to recruit a person, not just a successful student.
  • Prepare yourself spiritually; Taylor's a place for genuine believers, not just nominal Christians. Your application will include an essay about your spiritual walk.
  • Study hard in high school and try to get a good GPA.
