At Taylor, everyone—students and faculty alike—is bound to the Life Together Covenant (LTC), a document written decades ago by Taylor students. The aim of the LTC is simple: to aid the student body in its pursuit of Christ. Though it is, technically, a document made up entirely of rules (thou shalt not drink alcohol, have sex before marriage, abuse drugs, or dance socially, among others), the LTC is not meant to be a strictly-enforced, no-leniency policy; in fact, it encourages mercy and promotes honor. It's based on the belief that students should, and can, hold themselves accountable. Taylor is not a place with a secret police.
Unlike some Christian colleges, chapel attendance at Taylor is not mandatory but only encouraged. Professors don't stand in the aisles, ticking off who comes or doesn't. Students are free to attend (or not) as they please, and counterintuitively, chapel services are usually packed to capacity because of that. In addition, the dorms have "open houses," when students of the opposite gender can visit rooms—provided the lights stay on and the doors stay open (Taylor is understanding, not stupid)—without having enforcers wandering around making sure the rules are being followed. Blatant disregard of the rules is not hand-waved; students have been expelled for major infractions. Taylor University believes in grace and justice, particularly where students are concerned. Though students rarely admit it, most everyone understands that the rules are there for the benefit of the student body, rather than the administration being made up of dusty, old fuddy-duddies who can't comprehend fun. Anyone who suspects the contrary is encouraged to compete with President Habecker in a prank war ("Prez Hobbs" remains undefeated).

Positives and Negatives
I don't really have any issues with strictness at the school. There is no drinking or doing drugs or having sex and no dirty dancing. People usually freak at the dancing rule but it's really not that bad or strict!

LTC Doesn't Work
The Life Together Covenant may be put in place to help us focus on our studies and our faith while at school but it is completely ineffective. I have seen way too many people smoke on campus or drink while in Fairlane or even in the dorms because no one cares about the LTC. We are adults and are not being treated that way. The Bible says that Jesus drank so why can't we? Why are dance classes being held when the LTC forbids dancing? The school is contradicting itself way too much and because of this students see it as ok to break their bond with the school. Treat us like adults. Let us make our own decisions and I promise you: we, as a school, will not disappoint.

Enforcer!
they do a good job of enforcing, but could catch more people at breaking the rules.
