College Prowler Take

The foundation of education at Temple is based on core classes along with core requirements for majors. Temple has a goal for each student to be well rounded. Temple has some leniency towards their academic criteria, offering fun classes such as event planning, golf, scuba diving, gymnastics, and Shakespeare. The process of registering for class has become more efficient by scheduling online. Be prepared to wake up at the crack of dawn so that you will get into the classes you need. Most students are not sure what they want to study, and it’s not uncommon for some to change their majors, but it can be a setback in finishing on time.

Unfortunately, a lot of professors at Temple have accents that tend to bore you half to death, but there are numerous tutorial sessions and workshops available to help students. There are mixed feelings about the teachers. Many feel the staff is not enthused about the topics they are teaching, but overall, they feel that the teachers aren’t that bad. Get to know your professors, and ask them for assistance if you need it. Students seem to focus more on the quality of the professors than class material.

I got a pretty good mental workout in my time there. Some departments need to take more heed when students complain about poor teachers, but other than that, it’s pretty strong.

I think Temple got greedy and started accepting too many freshmen, thus creating the deluge of students on campus. This leads to issues such as Temple having problems with housing its students. Sometimes they only see dollar signs and not us.

You have to wait a long time to get an appointment with an advisor. I didn’t attend the business school, but they have over 1,000 students and just three or four advisors. I figure each school was given a certain amount of advisors. They should know which majors had more students and then compensate for it with more staff, but it’s possible there is some reason why that hasn’t happened.

I understand we have to take some of those basic classes before we can really start taking classes in our major. There’s some that we haven’t got a choice one, but then we do have the option of picking something that we have an interest. I was able to take weightlifting, and I almost chose a photography class, but it was sort-of expensive.
