College Prowler Take
Though there are a lot of places to eat on campus, about half of them don’t accept a meal plan. They either accept cash or Diamond Dollars, accessible with your ID card. Fair warning: don’t get a big meal plan, it’s a waste. The smallest meal plan available is a block five, which is five meals per week and is only to be used at the SAC or the cafeteria. The largest plan is the Super Value Carte Blanche plan for unlimited feasting. The cafeteria specializes in different cultural foods, as well as the usual pizza, sandwich, pasta, and salad entrees. The Student Rec Center carries fast food restaurants and snacks. Near Anderson and Gladfelter Hall, there are pizza stands, Chinese stands, and deli restaurants where students can eat in between classes. The prices are affordable even for a college student. If you are a fan of water ice, be sure to check out Saadiq’s Water Ice truck, which is parked near the Student Center. Temple is always interested in what you have to say about the food places. There are comment cards for the food or service, and most of them are quite amusing. Comments usually sound something like “What’s that smell?” The best part is that the administration always replies.

I always eat at the lunch trucks; it’s faster, and the prices are cheaper, and also the people that serve the food are nicer. The cashiers and food preparers at Temple always have an attitude. |

Caf food gets old in about a couple weeks, but I don’t know if that’s much different from other places. Food, overall, is okay; it helps that there are a number of places you can go to or order from. The trucks help out, I guess, but I never went to the trucks. |

I usually had no problem with the SAC, and the caf is fine if you know what to avoid and how to mix it up. |

No one liked the caf [cafeteria] because the food got old, but at the same time, if you go to the SAC to eat, all they served you was processed fast food. Burger King, Taco Bell, the Chinese food place—nothing of any value. Oh, I’m sorry, they had the Deli—big whoop. That means the only thing they thought of feeding us was revenue-generating fast food. |

There are plenty of places to eat on campus, but the school has its own places, and then there are the restaurants that are not really associated with the school. On campus, you can tell which ones are with Temple because no one knows about the other smaller places. They should advertise. |
