Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Temple broadcasts the fact that it is a diverse school. It has a large population representative of most ethnicities, but Temple is a predominantly white school. Still, with all the diversity at Temple, you could possibly find someone from the same hometown, with the same birth date, and with the same major. During the first year at Temple, you will see the same faces, but once you start exploring Temple, you will definitely see how diverse it really is.

Diversity is one of the main reasons why many Temple students decide to come here every year. There is at least one person from the school that will have a different religion, creed, background, or race, and it doesn’t hurt to get to know that person, even if only for your personal growth. What’s amazing at Temple, or probably most diverse colleges, is that you meet people you never thought existed.

Diverse and Accepting

Temple University has a relatively high rate of both international students and students of all different ethnicities. I, personally, have only been at Temple for one semester, and I've already met a significant amount of people from all different cultures- Asian, African American, African, Arabic, European, and so on. Temple also has many clubs and groups supporting different sexual orientations, religions, political groups, and cultures, which helps to create a highly accepting atmosphere for all this diversity to flourish.

Gay Pride

Most, if not all, campus organizations get involved in some political issue or another, whether locally or nationally. Issues involve everything from gay rights to abortion to discrimination. Temple University and its students have really become known for deep roots in the community.

Economic Status

The students at Temple come from different backgrounds financially. You will never hear anyone speak of the "rich kids" or anything like that—Temple students seem humble in their status.

Most Common Religions

There are a few Christian clubs and groups on campus that hold events. The Muslim Students Association is probably the largest religious club on campus.

Minority Clubs on Campus

There are several minority organizations on campus; for example, Black Student Union, Cambodian Association, and Hillel. All of these organizations have made their mark on the campus community and the people that they serve.
