College Prowler Take
The weather in Philadelphia is normal. It is cold in the winter months, hot in the summer months—basically an average of four seasons. Students are sure to pack extra gloves, umbrellas, and scarves because Temple doesn’t close in cases of snowstorms, hail, or hurricane weather. Students rely on the thermal underwear that moms have been trying for years to get them to wear; now they have collections, begging mom to send more. On the bright side, the school has been known to close if they know the teachers aren’t going to be able to come to class due to ice and the occasional blizzard. In this case, students go out and make snow angels or have snowball fights. It almost seems festive until the next morning, when the streets get plowed and the most difficult finds a way to get to class. Most students find that it is easy to adjust to the weather, even if they are from the South where it’s warm, or the Midwest where it’s windy or rainy. There isn’t a severe case of bad allergens due to pollen or dust particles in Philadelphia. The usual secondhand smoke and grass is all that you might encounter at Temple. Some students with really sensitive allergies have a reaction to the general air quality because Philly is a very busy city, with many factories and a lot of pollution. Many students also comment on how quickly people start showing some skin as soon as the sun warms the air. But beware: the weather is known for having brief spurts of pleasant temperatures and then turning back into a grisly winter.

It’s windy, being on the water and all. There’s usually a breeze, and when walking down the street, it became like a tornado or something. Maybe it has something to do with the tall buildings and wind currents, I don’t know. |

I’m from Texas, and when it snows, the city shuts down. Up here, they expect you to come to class while it’s snowing. |

It is fine—not too cold, not too hot; it’s the same as Maryland, to me. |
