Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

In Nashville, there is always something to do for fun; the key is to know where to look and to choose the right company to be with. The campus itself is very friendly; however, the surrounding area can be somewhat unsafe at times. The surrounding area is lower-class intercity, as TSU is located on the outskirts of downtown Nashville. It is five minutes away from West End and Charlotte avenues, which will carry you to the hottest clubs, restaurants, and shopping areas. The citizens of Nashville are either very friendly or very unfriendly; there is no in between. One day, you may have several smiling faces, and the next, not one person will look your way. The weather is much of the reason for these extremes, since it affects everything from traffic to people’s moods. Nashville is a great place for music lovers. There are a number of jazz clubs, dance clubs, gentlemen’s and ladies’ clubs, and places for concerts. The Starwood Amphitheatre holds a concert nearly every week, and the biggest and most mainstream artists play here because it is a large venue with plenty of seating. However, it is literally all the way across town from TSU. Other places artists perform in are 328 Performance Hall and, for country music lovers, the Grand Ole Opry. There are a number of clubs and bars located in downtown Nashville, and if that’s not your thing, there are also a number of interesting shops for souvenirs and other items you won’t find in a Wal-Mart. Overall, the people in Nashville are great to socialize with, and despite the South’s reputation, we are certainly not all hicks.

TN Ville

Nashville, Tennessee is a great place for all minorities. Tennessee State University is next to two other HBCU'S and often have friendly rival competition with one another. For those with gentle souls there is a poetry cafe just down the street. Also, downtown is just ten minutes away with many clubs and restaurants for everyone to enjoy.

The City That Lights up at Night

the only thing about nashville that actually catches my attention is the nashville bridge that lights up so beautifully as we are driving on the highway. The atmosphere is different than my hometown and the scenery is refreshing but the bridge seems to lighten up my atmosphere here in nashville.

Watch Out for Locals

First and foremost, campus is beautiful without a doubt. However, there can be times when it is dangerous. Those times are usually when the "locals" or Nashville natives come onto campus looking to start trouble. Aside of that, the city of Nashville is wonderful, great weather, aside of tornado season and also many great restaurants and shopping centers. The majority of the people there are friendly and display good southern hospitality.
